Vexen in Starwars, the Hollywood science fiction film series

From The Star Wars Encyclopedia:

Vex: Vex was recommended [as a bodyguard] to Trentacal by another contact within the Karazak Slavers Guild, and Trentacal offered Vex the position of bodyguard on the spot. At first, Vex had no interest in the job, having other personal duties to attend to. However, the Defel found himself between a rock and hard place when his own agenda was caught between Trentacal’s rivals and the Karazak Guild. Vex decided to join Trentacal and avoid the entanglements, thereby furthering his own goals. Vex proved himself to be a loyal servant, and was given more and more control of Trentacal’s daily routine until they were caught on Gabredor III. The slaving transfer station on the planet was infiltrated by the Red Moons, and their leader, Sully Tigereye, personally tore Vex apart in hand-to-hand combat aboard the Atron's Mistress. (SWJ8, TFE)

Vexen: One of the many small mining settlements established on the planet Kallistas. It was the primary extraction site of radioactive isotopes mined on the planet. (GG10)

According to the Star Wars dictionary site, the mining settlement called "Vexen" appears in the West End Games' Star Wars Role-Playing Game sourcebook supplement Galaxy Guide 10: Bounty Hunters, published in 1993 June.

Vexen in Kingdom of Hearts, the computer game series

www.greatestjournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=vexene is a user account of "vexene", who has created a profile based on the character Vexen that appeared in the Kingdom of Hearts computer game series, and names the profile "Vexen Iscarius Crabtree II", in his own words: "He has the same name as Vexen Crabtree (the famous Satanic author)...so I took the liberty of giving him the same surname, too."

[Vexen works in] Castle Oblivion with the other Nobodies who had been assistants to Ansem and Xehanort. There he became known as The Organization's token scientist. None of his fellow colleagues know anything of his sick past (or anything unrelated to his works at Radiant Garden). Up until recently, no one knew he kept the corpses of his family deep inside his laboratory.

No one knows what really made Vexen snap. Theoretically, it is probably due to the fact that his brain is not made out of the same substances that ordinary human beings' brains are, and so, it can never truly function the way a normal human's can; just attempt to imitate it.

Now Vexen's actually calmed down a bit and become slightly more humane, even though he still has uncontrollable outbursts every now and then that he manages to keep to himself. He, however, seems more in command of his situation, and rather than harming those close to him, he just harms himself.

He still performs deforming, maiming, and mutilating experiments on unsuspecting test subjects nonetheless, and many are under the belief that he's prone to pedophilic tendencies (and not without good reasoning). Just because he can usually mask his instabilities with his stern arrogance doesn't mean that he's any more sane than he was.

Wikipedia has an entry devoted to Vexen on its page on Organization XIII, which is the organization that Vexen works for in the game. It reads in full:

No. 4 in the Organization: Vexen, the Freezing Scholar, is the research scientist of the group [...]. He is often very stoic in his behavior. Vexen is ranked higher than most others in the game and has long dirty blond hair. He can control the power of ice and carries a large shield in battle that blocks any frontal attacks made against him.

In Chain of Memories, he appears to help in Marluxia's plot, but actually siding with Zexion and Lexaeus. He first battles Riku in order to create a replica of him. However, Vexen cared nothing for his "experiment" and allows Naminé to manipulate the duplicate's memories against his wishes. When he encounters Sora, Vexen says that he came to collect his "debt" and provokes Sora's anger by making him believe that he controlled Riku rather than created a replica. After their battle, Vexen gives Sora the card to Twilight Town with the intention of revealing something important to the boy. Marluxia considers him a traitor as a result and sends Axel to kill him.

In Twilight Town, Vexen attempts to reveal to Sora why he feels as though he has been to Twilight Town despite being fairly certain (though memories are never quite certain in Castle Oblivion) that he had never been there. Sora and Vexen battle again after Vexen tells Sora to throw away his memories and listen to his heart. Following the fight, Vexen sees Sora as a true threat; even after being weakened by false memories, Sora remained very strong. Just as Vexen is about to reveal to Sora Marluxia's plot to use him and the existence of "the other side of Sora's heart", Vexen is struck behind by one of Axel's chakrams. Despite pleading for mercy, Axel lays the death blow to Vexen, telling him "Now you can be nothing instead of just being nobody." His original name was Even. In the Chain of Memories manga, there is a research lab in the lower levels of Castle Oblivion where Vexen spends most of his time.

He is voiced by Tatsuya Kando in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories.

A Mosquito: Aedes Vexans (Meigen)

Found in every state of continental USA and most of Canada and is frequently considered a serious pest. The reason that it appears on this page is that sometimes it is mispelt as "aedes vexens". In some places it is evolving resistance to pesticides.

Misc. Online Accounts

Most profiles and accounts by the name of "Vexen" are either Vexen Crabtree's own accounts or are fan sites of Kingdom of Hearts, but there is a little plethora of other people. It is popular amongst the young to play with capitalization of letters, so "VeXeN" is a common form of "Vexen", although not one that any of the main profiles above would use.

  • www.gamespot.com user called VeXeN, although what games (s)he plays I can't tell from his profile. Account was created in 2002 Jun and was in use at last time of checking, in 2006 Mar.

  • A developer on The Adrenaline Vault Discussion Forums called "VeXen" (with a capital middle X) made two posts in 2002 November.

  • www.notaddicted.com/index.php?page=bingo is a transcript from World of Warcraft by Blizzard games, where a player called "Vexen" discourages another player from engaging in gambling, which is not allowed in World of Warcraft. I don't think that players themselves have online profiles, so this is all I know about this 'Vexen'.

  • Vexen, the band was a metal band consisting of singer Mike Cormier, guitarists Simon Hebert, Scott Brownell, Mike Trites, Steve Leblanc, bassists Shane Mazerolle, Rick Perrault, Mike Williston and Keith Dawson on drums. This URL http://media.locals.ca/localsconf/... describes "Old dead local metal bands", and was posted in 2003 and http://www.monctonlocals.com/... describes them as "metal, existed in the mid to late 80s", and links the photo on the right, which is of Vexen in a 1987 gig, and was added to the www.monctonlocals.com site in 2003.
